How to Earn Points
At the LDS Book Exchange, points are money. They are the unit with which you acquire new books. There are 3 ways to gain
trading points.
- Mail a Book - The most common way to gain points is to send a book from your inventory to a user who requests it. Once
the recipient receives the book and posts feedback, you will receive 1 point.
- Refer Friends - When you inform your friends about our site, you will earn 1 point for every 3 of your friends that
registers on our site. Use this referral form to send emails to your friends.
- Purchase Points - If you want a book in a hurry, you can purchase points from us. The cost of one
point is going to be a lot cheaper than having to buy the book at your local bookstore.
Adding Books to Your Inventory
To add an item to your inventory click the "My Books" link at left
(it will only be visible after you register and login). Enter the ISBN number from the back of
your book and our site will automatically find the author and title of the book.
You will be asked to confirm the book addition, then it will be added to your inventory and
immediately available for others to request. Add as many books as you want.
Finding Books
Finding new books to read is the funnest part of the LDS Book Exchange! There are 2 ways to search for new books to request.
First, if you are searching for a specific title or books by a specific author, use the Book Search located at the upper
right corner of every page. You can search by title, author, or ISBN.
If you don't have a specific title in mind, you can browse our inventory by category. Use the Browse menu at left to
look through all books by category.
Making Requests
When you find a book you like, click the "I Want It" link and a request will be sent to the owner of the book alerting
them to your request. You can check the status of your requests on the "My Requests" page.
Mailing
When you receive a new request for one of your books, please confirm the request and mail the book off within 3 days. For
more information on mailing a book, visit our Mailing Instructions page.
Feedback
Leaving feedback after a transaction is essential for the success of the book exchange. First and foremost, leaving feedback
acknowledges the receipt of your book request and allows the sender to claim the point they earned. Second, feedback
helps identify problem users for the entire community. We fully expect the majority of our users to be honest and easy
to work with, but if we have a bad egg or two, feedback will help to identify them and tip other users off that they
may not want to deal with this user in the future.
